PLEASE NOTE:
All players are responsible for knowing and abiding by the Rules of Tournament Play. Any violation could result in a penalty or disqualification. In the event of a breach of rules, Bob Davita, Tom Omalley, and Larry Ingram will officiate and rule on the incident collectively. If there are any questions, players must request clarification before teeing off.
Tournament Rules
● The tournament format will be an Individual Handicapped 100% event consisting of three nine-hole rounds played during normal league play on Friday, April 19th, Friday, April 26th, and Friday, May 3rd, 2024. The two best rounds over three weeks of play count toward the final score. The best 18-hole score will be designated the Green Jacket Winner.
● GHIN handicap is required along with a minimum of ten (10) MSG9 rounds played beginning January 1st, 2024.
● All players must tee off from the tee box where their handicap is established.
● All Ties will be settled by “Card-Off” starting with HCP Hole #1.
● Green Jacket Tournament Players Will Get Preferred Tee Times. PLEASE NOTE: Scoring will be adjusted according to GHIN HCP to accommodate Course Slope and Rating based on Front Nine vs. Back Nine. Front Nine Players generally receive one extra stroke per nine holes. Check your GHIN HCP for details.
● A Low Net Prize will be awarded for each of the three rounds. One for Silver and one for Gold. (Gold tees back is Division One- Emerald tees forward are Division Two)
● Results after every round will be published.
● All scorecards must be Signed and Returned to the TARA PRO SHOP immediately following play.
● PDCs will have registration forms available.
● Registration begins on Friday, March 29th. Completed registration form and fee are to be delivered to the TARA PRO SHOP by April 12th, 2024.
All standard MSG9 “Rules of Play” (see www.msg9.net for details) will be used with the following exceptions.
1) There are no mulligans or breakfast balls. All shots put into play count toward the final score. Two from the Tee you are hitting three (3).
2) There are no gimmes. All players must finish each hole. The max score before pickup is +5……………….. Pickups are scored at +5……. NOT MSG9 standard +3
3) No Personal Score Keeping. Opposing play partners will keep scores for the opposite play pairs. A breach of this rule results in instant disqualification.
4) Out Of Bounds (white stakes) or in a Hazard (red stakes) is a One-Stroke Penalty. One in the woods/water, two to drop, hitting three.
Inclement Weather
If players have started a round and weather becomes a factor, such as lightning, downpour, etc., the players may resume later in the day to finish. If the course is closed on that play day, MSG9 will decide on the next scheduled play date.
A Game of Integrity
The Tournament Committee has worked hard to ensure that the MSG9 Green Jacket Tournament is fair and equitable to all players. It is the responsibility of every player to know the Tournament Rules, to abide by the rules, and to demonstrate their personal integrity as social golfers.
