The Men’s Social Group 9-Hole Golf League (MSG9) is for Savannah Lakes Village men desiring to play nine holes of casual golf with an emphasis on the enjoyment of fellowship and fun.

OUR MISSION: To maintain and promote relaxed 9-hole golf play while encouraging the social interaction of our membership as we support community golf initiatives.

USGA rules have been modified slightly to keep play moving and enhance our members’ enjoyment.  USGA handicaps are not required for casual play. Players desiring to compete in League Tournaments must have an established GHIN Handicap and have played at least ten (10) 9-hole rounds with the MSG9 Men’s Social Golf League.

MSG9 golf is played on Savannah Lakes Village golf courses every Wednesday and Friday twelve months a year; weather and course conditions permitting. Wednesday play days are typically at Monticello and Fridays at Tara. Players may opt to play a morning or afternoon round of nine holes. Start times and format may vary.

After golf, members gather for food, beverages, and socializing in the SLV Club Houses. Annually, MSG9 hosts the league Green Jacket Tournament and Awards Banquet, typically held in early May following The Master’s Tournament. Other games, tournaments, and social events are planned throughout the year.

There is a minimal annual membership fee of $25.00, plus fees for occasional tournaments and social functions. Membership is open to all male members of Savannah Lakes Village. Seasonal member players are welcome.

Format

GHIN

The Golf Handicap Information Network (GHIN) is a Golf Handicap Tracking Service offered by the USGA to golf associations worldwide. MSG9 players are Not Required to have a registered GHIN account to participate in standard league play.

Those who wish to participate in MSG9 Seasonal Tournaments must have both an established GHIN Handicap and have played at least ten (10) 9-hole rounds with the MSG9 Men’s Social Golf League. Pro Shop Associates can assist in setting up your GHIN HCP account or visit ghin.com. It is the personal responsibility of each player to faithfully report play day scores into the GHIN application. GHIN is Not Required for normal casual league play, only for tournament competition. Weekly scorecards are to be delivered to the appropriate PDC.

GOLF GENIUS

MSG9 employs the Golf Genius event scheduling system to send play-day invitations, post play-day schedules and pairings, and transmit other relative information as necessary. Once a new member has paid his dues, his email address will be added to the invitation system.

Invitations for Wednesday rounds go out on Thursday at 6 pm. Invitations for Friday rounds go out on Saturday at 6 pm. Those interested in playing in any of those rounds may simply click PLAYING in that email, or NOT PLAYING that date and time as may be the case.

PDCs

Play Day Coordinators (PDCs) are the official ‘Starters‘ for each of the four nine-hole sessions.

PDCs communicate through the Golf Genius booking and notification system. In the event, you are unable to make your tee time, contact the appropriate PDC by email or phone and call the Pro Shop to cancel.

TEE DESIGNATION

When members pay their annual dues, they must declare the tee box they will use for that year, including all league tournaments. Players changing tees during the calendar year will play all tournaments from the tee box declared at the start of the year.

Men’s Social Golf Rules of Play

MSG9 Rules have been modified from standard USGA rules in an effort to maximize expedient play and minimize player frustration. We are not professional golfers. We are weekday warriors who enjoy the thrill of golf, the beautiful scenery around us, and the wonderful people we have to share it with. Our rules are liberal and forgiving. Pace of Play Guidelines

MSG9 has over one-hundred and fifty players on the roster. Forty-eight players tee off in each of the four nine-hole rounds; twelve tee times per session. AM players typically play the Back Nine while PM players start on the Front Nine. Operational and Seasonal Changes may impose a shotgun start at times.

In an effort to maximize course availability for other leagues and members who play the full eighteen, the SLV Golf Committee has established a set of general guidelines to promote expedient play on the course. See PACE OF PLAY GUIDELINES HERE.

Contact Us

MSG9 is a Sanctioned Golf League in Savannah Lakes Village, South Carolina. The league steering committee consists of four primary officers, four secondary officers, and four PDCs (Play Day Coordinators). All roles are two-year voluntary service.
